Prepare for parenthood together - not just for the birth.
An intimate, midwife-led evening for mothers and their birth partners, designed to help you feel more prepared for life after birth, understand what each of you might need, and navigate the transition into parenthood as a team.
You’ve probably spent time thinking about the birth, getting the essentials ready and imagining what life with your baby will look like.
But have you talked about what happens afterwards?
The tiredness. The recovery. The emotional changes. The adjustment to your relationship. The invisible mental load of caring for a newborn - and the importance of making sure mum is cared for, too.
The fourth trimester can be one of the most significant transitions a couple experiences. Yet many parents reach those early weeks without having had the chance to think about what they might need, how they’ll share the load or what support will make the biggest difference.
Hosted by Hazel, a practising midwife and founder of The Postpartum Company, this is a space to have those conversations before you’re in the thick of it.
Not to achieve a perfect plan or prepare for every eventuality, but to help you approach early parenthood with greater understanding, realistic expectations and a shared idea of how you’ll support one another.
01. Becoming Parents Together
Parenthood changes more than your routine. Explore the transition into becoming parents, how your identities and relationship may shift, and why giving yourselves time to adjust matters.
02. Supporting the Fourth Trimester
Understand what the early weeks can really involve - from physical recovery and emotional adjustment to the everyday realities of caring for a newborn. Explore how birth partners can offer meaningful, practical and emotional support, rather than feeling unsure where to start.
03. Building Your Family Village
You weren’t meant to do it all alone. Think about the people, practical help and support systems that could make life easier, and how to build your village before you need it.
04. Designing Your Family’s Fourth Trimester Plan
Bring it all together with a practical plan for your early weeks as a family. Consider recovery, household responsibilities, visitors, rest, communication and the support you’ll each need - so you’re not trying to work everything out when you’re exhausted.
This isn’t about being told how to parent or expecting everything to go to plan.
It’s about making space to talk honestly, ask questions and consider what parenthood might look like for your family - with evidence-informed guidance from a practising midwife.
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of the fourth trimester, practical ways to support one another and a shared plan to help you navigate those early weeks together.
Because preparing for a baby shouldn’t just mean preparing for the baby’s arrival. It should mean preparing to care for the people becoming parents, too.
