EVERYTHING YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING

ABOUT YOUR CARE

What exactly is The Postpartum Company?
Private, midwife-led postpartum support in your own home. I combine clinical knowledge and practical help to support you - your recovery, feeding, newborn life, confidence and everything in between.

Do you replace my NHS midwife or health visitor?
No. The Postpartum Company is a separate private service designed to complement your NHS care, not replace it. You continue to receive your usual NHS maternity, health visiting and GP care.

What makes your support different?
You get both: midwifery expertise and practical support.
Sometimes you need to talk through feeding or recovery. Sometimes you need someone to hold the baby while you shower and eat. Sometimes you need both. There’s no rigid agenda - we work out what would genuinely help you that day.

YOUR SUPPORT

What happens during a Recovery Session?
There’s no set checklist. We start with “What do you need today?”

Your two hours might include support with recovery, feeding, newborn care, practical jobs, reassurance, birth reflection or simply having some uninterrupted time to rest.

When should I book?
Whenever feels right for you. Many families book during pregnancy so their support is already arranged, but you can book postpartum too, subject to availability.

What if I don’t know what support I’ll need?
Perfectly normal. You don’t need to know. That’s part of my job. We’ll work it out together.

What is Signature?
Flexible hours of midwife-led support that you can use when you need them - rather than following a prescribed schedule. You choose the amount of support and we shape it around your life, recovery and family.

What is Concierge?
Your own circle of trusted care, coordinated by me. You choose how much support you want from me, and we can bring in other trusted specialists or practical support where it would genuinely make life easier.

You receive one bespoke quote and I coordinate it for you.

PRACTICAL SUPPORT

Are you a cleaner?
No - and I don’t expect you to have a spotless house either!

My practical support is about making your postpartum life easier, not deep cleaning your home.

That might mean making food, loading the dishwasher, putting a wash on, light tidying around us, helping with baby supplies, holding your baby while you shower, or helping with older children.

If you need more substantial domestic help, I can help coordinate the right person through Concierge.

Do I need to tidy before you come?
Absolutely not. Come exactly as you are. This is postpartum care, not a house inspection.

Can my partner or older children be involved?
Absolutely. Your support is designed around your whole family.

FEEDING & MOTHERHOOD

Can you help with breastfeeding?
Yes. I can support common feeding questions and challenges within my professional scope. Where more specialist feeding support is appropriate, I can coordinate trusted feeding specialists through Concierge.

What if I’m formula feeding?
You’re equally welcome. My job is to support your feeding goals, without judgement.

What if I’ve had a difficult birth?
There’s space to talk about it. We can reflect on your experience at your pace, alongside supporting your physical recovery and life after birth.

Is this just for first-time mums?
Absolutely not. Every postpartum experience is different - and having older children can make those early weeks particularly demanding.

YOUR CARE CIRCLE

Who are the specialists you work with?
I work with a carefully selected network of independent professionals, chosen for their qualifications, experience, approach to care, insurance and, where appropriate, DBS checks and professional registration.

I don’t simply recommend a directory of businesses. I choose people I genuinely trust.

Why bring other professionals into my care?
Because no one person can be an expert in everything. If something would genuinely benefit from specialist support, I’ll help you find the right person rather than expecting you to spend hours researching and coordinating it yourself.

THE LITTLE THINGS

Will you judge my parenting choices?
No. Breastfeeding, formula, combination feeding, home birth, hospital birth, plans that changed completely - you’re not coming to me to be judged.

You’re coming for evidence-based information, practical help and someone firmly in your corner.

What should I wear?
Whatever you’re comfortable in. Pyjamas are absolutely acceptable!

Can I gift your services?
Yes. Recovery Sessions, Signature support and selected experiences can be gifted. It’s a lovely alternative to another baby grow.

Where do you travel?
I provide home visits across Bedfordshire and surrounding areas, with further travel available by arrangement. If you’re unsure whether I cover your area, just ask.

BOOKING

How do I book?
You can book a complimentary Discovery Call through the website, or message me directly if you’d rather.

We’ll talk about your plans, what you’re looking for and what kind of support might suit you.

Do I have to book after the call?
Absolutely not. There’s no pressure or obligation.

Can I book before my baby arrives?
Yes - and I recommend it if you know you’d like support. One less thing to organise once your baby is here.

What happens if my baby arrives early or late?
We adapt. Your baby doesn’t need to follow the calendar, and neither does your postpartum care.

ABOUT HAZEL

Are you still an NHS midwife?
Yes. I continue to practise as an NHS midwife alongside The Postpartum Company.

My private work is completely separate from my NHS role.

Are you insured?
Yes. I hold appropriate professional insurance and practise in accordance with the NMC Code.

STILL WONDERING?

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you get in touch.

Tell me what’s going on, what you’re worried about or what you think might make life easier.

We’ll work it out from there.

The standard of postpartum care mothers deserve.
Private, midwife-led care at home.
